The Oasis House
The Oasis House
The Oasis House, a house that seeks to safeguard the place’s identity. Although the plot is defined, the site’s design is quite different. It is characterised by an extensive and impressive rock formation allowing us to claim this place as having no limits but rather irregular contours which invite enhancements. Oasis House is a fragment of that rock, an allusion to the surroundings, as if extracted from the soil, resulting in a sculpture on the land with different shades and textures, whose materiality reflects the rock’s rough appearance through adobe construction methods.
The implantation of the house is essential as it ensures privacy from passers-by, while the patio offers a rapid extension of the eye, a subtle interplay between interior and exterior, conjuring up the feeling of a tenuous boundary line between the house and its surrounding landscape. We believe our conceptual approach encompasses form and content, resolving the programmatic topics and simultaneously transforming the heritage of the place through memory, of the buildings and outdoor space created. This is a proposal based on the special relationship between community and nature, a vision that is able to keep what the past has best achieved so to design the future.
